From the 27.01.-22.02.2004 I was travelling through
Malaysia.
Spending one night in Singapore I moved soon up
to Melaka, where I stayed for almost
1 week, meeting many very nice people from all
over the world (Colin, Warwick, Brenda,...). Many
of them I met again afterwards in KL, Penang or
Langkawi.
After one relaxing week in Melaka I moved on to
Kuala Lumpur with Brenda from Belgium.
On the airport of KL I met my friend Pauli.
From now on we travelled together. We spent some
very nice days in KL, visiting the KL Tower, the
Petronas Towers, the Batu Caves (it was the famous
Hindu-festival), seeing a chinese dragon dancing
competition and of course enjoying the night life.
We moved then up to the north spending one day
in the Cameron Highlands (Jungle trekking),
a couple of days in Ipoh, where we met some nice
malayian friends (Mara, Kevin) and had a superb
evening in the Y2K pub and finally arriving to
Georgetown / Pulau Penang, where we met
again a lot of friends we knew from Melaka and
KL. After two days we took a ferry to Pulau
Langkawi. Finally we reached a place with
nice beaches. It was like paradies: white sand
on the beach, palms, sun and jungle. With motorcycles
we discovered the hole Island and spent some funny
days together with Erika and Selena from Italy.
After a few days unfortunately we had to leave
Langkawi and we headed back down to Ipoh
(again an incredible night at the Y2K) and Kluang
to reach Pulau Tioman, a small Island
on the west coast. There we spent a few days relaxing
in the sun and exploring the jungle and the underwaterworld
of the island. The last station in Malaysia before
we went to Singapore was Johor Bharu,
the city in the south close to Singapore. There
we did some last cheap shopping and had our last
malay food. The last two days in Singapore
were incredible: unlimited shopping, partying
in the trendiest clubs of the town and just being
impressed by this amazing city.
The
22.of february I left Singapore to start my next
adventure: my exchange semester in New Zealand!
